if you watch the OVA “Another Epilogue”, you see the Ontinashi is still in purgatory, and confronts a boy who realizes he’s dead. So if a new season was o come out it could tell the story of him being there before he actually graduated.

Yea i want kanade and onotashi to be togeather in the season two if they make it and i hope they do i almost cried in the last episode especially the final episode it touched my heart and i think i got a small cruch on kanade she is beautiful but i miss her and onotashi they belong togeather.

What im thinking is that Otonashi and Kanade will start dating and tat a story similar to Clannad will begin. Along with that they should set out to find the others. That would make room for quite a good story I think.

I know right, but I simply think there won’t be a Second Season. The evidence you have is still not good enough. They can simply either delay it like the Full metal Alchamist BrotherHood, or they can just forget about Angel Beats 2nd Term.

In the “Another Epilogue” you see that Yuzuru has taken Kanade’s place as school council president.
Then, maybe it’s about a new life where Otonashi and Kanade meets… In angel beats, he end of the ending showed Otonashi passing by Kanade…. When Kanade passed by him, Otonashi turned around and reached for her shoulder… I wonder if Season 2 will be interesting…
Honestly, It will probably be about Otonashi continuing helping those who enter the world between life and after life confront their past and move on. In the series it talked about the creator of Angel Player was a man like Otonashi who had lived for another and lived a fulfilling life entered the world because of memory loss. He decided to wait for the one he loved to enter though there was a slim chance. You are not suppose to find love in that world if you do you are suppose to disappear because it can turn the world into eternal paradise . He eventually lost his sanity and created Angel Player to turn people like himself into NPCs so they would not have to continue waiting and stop it from happening again. However now Otonashi is stuck in his same position wandering into this world with loss of memory of his happy life, however he was able to find his love in this world yet having to let her go. This new series might be about a repeat of the past, but maybe with a twist Otonashi being able to do what the original (Angel Player) could not.
^_^ sorry it was so long, but that’s my vision of the new series based of the last one!

They never met, unless you are talking about the epilogue. She knows him because his heart was used in her transplant surgery, thus the OP of “My Soul, Your Beats!”, because she has his heart. This also shows that unless Otonashi was in a mystical land while Kanade was at the school, time doesn’t apply at all, since he should have appeared there first.
That’s because. When Otonashi’s heart got transplanted, he lived on inside Kanade, he went to the Afterlife after Kanade died, thus, placing Kanade before Otonashi. If you wonder about the timeframe, take it like, a day in the real world equals a century or so in the Afterlife.
Otonashi was indeed in a mystical land, inside Kanade’s body(ifyouknowwhatimean).
Alternatively, you could just say “he had amnesia and missed a few months because of it”.
Sometimes the simple explanations work.

otonashi went to heaven when he died, the reason that he ended up in the school was so that kanade could meet him and move on. im guessing it took a while for the system to realize that otonashi with memories just keeps showing up in heaven. thats my take on it.
how… if in the end of season one it shows him and Kanade reincarnated and he runs after her and grabs her sholder then how is he in the epilogue??
Is that image the script for the second season? but it has Yuri’s, Hinata’s and Kanade’s name in it. So, maybe some of the original cast are included but with new cast in the new season

You can’t have a new show without the original cast in it. I hated how it ended just like that. It should ‘Otonashi’ seeing ‘Kanade’ but we don’t know what happened after that. I felt so bad for Otonashi after that to. That would be something I would hate god for. Make life hell and then give a second chance just to have it all taken away, its not fair just to end it like that.

I have to agree with the people who say a season 2 is not needed. How on earth is there going to be a second season when Kanade is no longer in the afterlife. The whole story revolved around Kanade and Otonashi and with both of them gone from the afterlife…I don’t see how that will work out. New crew? Doubt it because again, no Kanade and Otonashi. Remake? That’ll just be somewhat repetative since we know what the reason for them being there is already. The only possibility that can be is reincarnation, which again I do not like the idea of.

Yeah, I watched the whole anime in 1 and a half days as well.
I really don’t want new characters, considering I really liked Iwasawa-san, Otonashi-kun, Shiina-san (my favourite) and basically everyone :x.
I hope there’s a second season but with the same characters.
I geuss u guys didnot watch episode 13 till the end even after the credits (they both get out of the afterlife but you see kanade and Otonashi meat at the very end) so like i said in my previous comment they might try too all meet each other again 😀

Also, didn’t you guys know there is a special coming out on DVD December 22nd? They very well may do an epilogue for the first season using it.
Angel Beats is one of my favorite show for 2010 and i’m glad that theres going to be a 2nd season although i didn’t like how the show ended but it was great. 8D

What I’m trying to say is that the posted picture and information is apparently fake since the official company and the creator did not confirm this information, but there is still chance that a second season would be developed, and I don’t think the script would be the same as the one you guys are seeing right now …………..
I hate to say this that even though Angel Beats might seem like such a huge success, it failed to make the top 10 of all the animes shown this summer, and Key is not the type of company that would consider about sacrificing their reputation to gain more money, if they think a series has a perfect ending and all are explained, then no second season would be considered, just think about the previous works of Key – Clannad, Kanon, Air, all received critical reception, but only Clannad has a second season and only because the original game is too long to be put into a 24 episode anime series.
And last, I think all of you know that Angel Beats started as a short novel and then was created into an anime series with the exact same story, and unfortunately, the official novel of Angel Beats, written by 麻织 准， officially ended in this May, with only 1 volume, which is pretty much all covered by the anime series, and so before the second anime could come out, the has to be a volume 2 of the novel series to start with, but apparently there is no sign of intention of 麻织 准 doing that…………….
If there ever IS an Angel Beats season 2, I think the script would be completely different from the first season, or even just be a prologue, we never know……………

Turtle, I believe you that this is a scam, though I would like to point out that the novels were not the same thing as the anime was. The novels were a prequel to the anime, and featured Hinata and Yuri forming the SSS. Otonashi is really only an anime-exclusive character.
The manga as well is different from the anime, for the manga adapts the light novels and not the anime.
But pushing that aside, I am 99.9% sure that this is a scam due to the fact that Anime News Network probably would have announced it, and the official sites did not mention it.
However, there will be a 14th episode, I believe in December, when the final volume of the DVD is released, so we won’t be in despair until December. 🙂

Mayby it wont be set in the after life. I mean it could be all of their next lives or something because it kind of needs Tenshi, the title “angel beats” and all. Or mayby you do not get re-bord and it is the “eden” like place mentioned in the 12th episode. It would be a pity if they got rid of all of the characters.
Imo, this anime is too short 😦 I wish it was longer, though. But I would love season 2 to have the original characters. Like Kanade and Yuzuru, they really make a perfect match. And the last part is kinda sad that I cried. Great anime!

How is there gonna be an sss when everyone graduated? No one will know about it. It makes me wounder how the new characters will start it off. Plus the mfact that the band wont be there to make awesome music and distract anymore. They could make a new one but it wont be the same and how would they if they if no one knows if they act normal they disapear? Oh well, first season was great so im sure season 2 will not let us down. The companies that worked on it have made many great productions so if they do decide to make season 2 it will be awesome.

seriously ….do you guys NOT know Japan share the same kanji as China and Taiwan? The pronunciation might be different but each Kanji has the same meaning and same sentence structure. Hence why I only can translate some of it (the kanji part) and not the Hiragana and Katakana part. Do your f-ing research before calling bs.

Has anyone seen the 3-minute alternate epilogue? It shows Otonashi as the current Student Council Prez, and talking to a kid who’s also starting to act rebellious like Yurippe did. SS has it subbed.

The chance of a prequel seems pretty unlikely, they left
the prequel to the manga, under Hinata’s POV. I think the second
season will be a new cast, in characters i mean, with Yuzuru as the
only reoccuring character, and flashbacks of the other reoccuring
characters if it follows the -epilogue- Maybe a character or 2 will
return from their new life due to another unfulfilled life, but I’m
sure they’ll keep that to a minimum… But either way I can’t wait,
I sort of want a new cast, but I’m sure the company will bring the
old cast back through a new means, some through another death, or
by going deeper in the “Mystery” of that world, as in how and why
it exists…

1) the different character names maybe the new names of the original people but since they were reincarnated they have different names. So it'll be about the orginal classmatesin a new life.
2) Because of the "another epiolgue" it maybe about new people who died and entered that "world" since otonashi was still there. BUT the "another epilogue" could just be the time when otonashi stayed in that "world" because at the last episode you see otonashi running to kanade in their new life so he DID dissapear.

so i read quite a ways down on here. about from now to sometime in 2009. i saw the characters list and everyone freaking out about no otonashi and kanade and yuri and others. I promise nothing, but remember that when you are reincarnated, you probably won’t have the same name. Perhaps some of the old characters are there, but with no recollection of S1, and with different names, because the would’nt remember the first life.
And also, I think I win. I watched this in six and a half hours 🙂 my favorite anime so far, looking forward to spring now 🙂

I think people are reading to much into their heads. The story ended. And quite gracefully at that. Otonoshi didn’t stay behind, otherwise what was that tid bit at the end? Where they’re alive and in the real world, complete strangers but he hears that tune and then boom the end. What was that?
It also doesn’t make sense for them to be in ‘heaven’ the idea centers around reincarnation. Its not said but its quite obvious. From talking about meeting again, to ‘ life is wonderful’ . So the heaven idea is out. And it can’t be anything about the previous characters, because that just wouldn’t sell. There was a reason that it didn’t go back into every ones past. I don’t think I’d want to sit through that. I feel like everybodies story is over.
Thus we should all just rack Angel Beats season 2 to be a mystery instead of it ‘ continuing’ whats already ended.
I can read some Japanese,and I read the word Kanade, multiple times! So hopefully this season will have her in it? 😀

But… A problem with the plot, every story needs an antagonist. Kanade was the antagonist, but she eventually became a protagonist. Then that weird npc re-program thing happened, then after that there were no more antagonists… And the series ended…

Well Otonashi did stay behind so he might be in the 2nd season(although in the small epiloge of the last season he meets kanade in the real world). But it dont matter really if they bring in a new cast or come back with some of the old ones, as long as the story is as funny/entertaining and dramatic as the 1st season i wont have a prob with it.

we don’t know if otonashi really stayed behind, or he went back to the real world and died with regrets again. they can twist the story with kanade being unable to come to the after life. to add on, otonashi died way before kanade, but kanade appeared in the after life before him +

in an episode one of them says that someone could be in limbo for days years decades etc…
I did some research and found an alt epilogue that shows Otonashi still in the afterlife but as the student council president. Some guy is having a breakdown and he walks in and confronts him at the end it shows him alone in the council room by himself and you hear in the background that he is waiting for someone or something. If you go by this then yes he stayed to help out others. Something occurred to me if you take the plot at the end of season 1 where the npc was talking about the person who created the software that Kanade and he used he talked about this guy in the past who fell in love but the girl left and he stayed. He waited a long time for her to come back eventually creating the software then turning himself into a NPC. This could easily place Kanade and Otonashi in those rolls this is limbo after all time could be relative. Just some thing to think on

i think if they do another season it would probably be about their lives on earth and alive instead of dead.
I have just finished season one of angel beats including OVA.In my opinion,the story had a great ending.It was sad at first,but in the epilogue both kanade and Yuzuru were reincarnated into the mortal world,while otanashi was passing by he heard a familiar song that he remebered from iwasawa.Kanade was singing it while laying back.Yuzaru immediatly remembered everything including his tome in the afterlife.He turned back and ran like hell after kanade and tapped her on the shoulder.This probably means that they were gonna fall in love and date in the real world .I think in season two their might not be a new set of characters.It probably will just deal with the original characters.It probably might turn like the show CLANNAD.All the action and violence might get sucked out .And it probably be romance and comedy like they might find all the other members.And its gonna start a whole new perception of the story.

Well from watching the alternate ending it seems that otonashi is waiting for say kanade to return and he is the student council president and he stayed behind
I’ve got a theory for season 2:
Kanade ended up earlier in the afterlife then Otonashi, but she died later.
Maybe Otonashi was the guy who made himself a NPC. (REF1 down below) and that’s why he didn’t disappear (Ref: 2nd Ending).
Now Otonashi is waiting for Kanade, just like the unknown guy that was mentioned in EP.12 (REF2)
So, I think that Otonashi is the programmer of Angel Player, but simply doesn’t remember it since he turned himself into a NPC.

Option 2: Otonashi will somehow be turned back into a human, finds peace and leaves the Afterlife. Finding Kanade in the Real World, Remembering what happened in the afterlife by hearing the melody of the song Kanade is humming

Okay, think about this…. Kanade and Otonashi and Yui and the blue-haired guy having kids(of course Yui will adopt) and then one day, something bad happens and maybe they don’t really die but are stuck in between and they fade in and out of that world and bring order and peace and maybe somehow, come back to life and enlighten the world to something new? I don’t know, just a thought…. But wouldn’t it seriously suck if after Otonashi tapped Kanade and remembered each other thouroughly she just jumps up and says something like, “Well it was nice seeing you again but I’m married. Bye!” Any thoughts?
And btw, I’m super confused on this! okay, well, if Kanade has Otonashi’s heart(literally) then she can’t have gotten it until after he died right? So how is it that she was there before him?! I think the episode said something about him just drifting around for a while? Can someone please explain this to me?

Maybe Otonashi is the gut who turned himself into an NPC but doesn’t remember doing that. So in EP1, when Otonashi wakes up on the ground, it’s after a “Reset” (mentioned in EP 12 by the NPC: When love manifests in this word it trys to reset itself).
So after that “Reset” Otonashi wakes up, without any memory (it was possibly erased by the “reset” i mean his memory in the afterlife). That means he doesn’t remember that he is a NPC. Kanade got Otonashi’s heart AFTER Otonashi died, and possibly turned himself into a NPC (Answering the question “Who is he waiting for?” His Little Sister). After the “Reset” it might have took a while for Otonashi to “Reboot” (As NPC). so Kanade probably got in the afterlife between the “Reset” and Otonashi’s wakeup.
A Second theory:
At the end of the operation, Kanade fell in a Coma (It’s like being DEAD but not 100%). While in coma, Kanade went on to get a look in the afterlife. Her wish was to be able to say thanks to the person who saved her life with that new heart, So “the afterlife” gave her the chance to do that, putting her in the afterlife before Otonashi (Back in time).
Maybe this will clear it up, or confuse you more, but i repeat: IT ARE JUST THEORY’s)

a conclusion I reached when I finished watching the anime it is very good and the perfect ending.
Now a supposition quite obvious that Kanade said that they have the same light heart when he died he asino the organ donor card is that it we mentioned that she was saved by the very heart of it.
Now as she came before him? Simple As mentioned in episode 12 (and in rare cases someone who lived life to the good of others just wandering because of amnesia) if he was wandering before entering a Dimension that would tempo.mesmo after finishing the anime leaves question him being a programmer (as he was waiting for her to come back some day he became a god like the site) and he is waiting for her soul back to her in another life for them to get together to and could be the start of the season.
It’s indeed a pretty good and solid option, but how would you explain the end of EP13 (Otonashi meeting Kanade in the real world) and/or Episode 13a Another epilogue, where you see Otonashi in the afterlife, as Student Council President (A job he might decided to continue after Kanade left).

-The 2nd Season isn’t OFFICIALLY announced as far as i know
-The chance for a 2nd season IT NOT 0, the Manga has 2 Volumes,
-Manga Vol.1 is the one where the anime is based on
-Manga Vol.2 is about more back-story’s of the characters in the 1st Volume.
-The chance for a 2nd season is there! they have more manga they can use as script or baselines, but it’s NOT OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED AS FAR IS I KNOW

I love this anime I touched my heart, it was that good.
I don’t really care if their are going to be new characters. The only thing i want, and i mean really really want and wish, that is going to happend in season 2. Is that we are going to see Otonashi and Kanade again…. Just one more time. That they met each other again, that they will get in the other dimension and meet each other their or maybe that Otonashi is going to save Kanade in the other dimension, maybe cause their are some problems that will cause some bad things……

Angel Beats is buy far the best Anime series that i have seen so far. It was a very touching series and i really do hope that they continue to make a season 2, I really want to see Otonashi and Kandade’s relationship go further as they kinda left us on a cliffhanger as such and its just eating away at me that i cant see them again! Grr. i have my fingers crossed that a second season is in development and that it will be released hopefully in the near future. well it doesn’t necessarily need to be in the near future i would just like a confirmed release date to quenched my Angel Beats craving! Well i guess time will tell.

same characters and they will meet again in the after world to erase the most threatening opponent of their lives it is more powerful than angel but in the end angel win because Yuzuru is by her side and angel also learn more abilities in this season and many new characters will appear with the same personalities as the characters in season 1 and angel will team up with a person just like her but that character is a boy and he is more powerful than angel and yuzuru will be a little jealous about them but angel and the boy are just friends and in the end they return back to normal lives and after 10 years Yuzuru and angel will be married and have children.
It could be when they are all in the real world and they start meeting each other…maby idk

totally agree, although i rather it not being done then to make a mess in Jun’s name but i must say i had a really hard time watching this anime because it was a killer i don even know if i m lafing or crying most of the time. but too bad the cast of the character name are different to the org which mean they are gonna have a new group of people rather then the original. i’m still looking forward to it but i really miss them. its amazing how the character have develop a strong bond between the viewer in such a short time. but ya jun lie its winter already n its still now out. tho i understand that the anime will take forever to make since i watch the interview

Has everyone one forgotten the epilogue in the first season of Angel beats yes everyone left just not otonashi he stayed back waiting for more regretful souls for him to help out in the epilogue he stays there as the school councils leader and it already showed a new character (not sure if he will be apart of the 2nd season though) but why would they create that opening gap and not create a 2nd season

It was in another time in the ”real world” The person who touched Kanades shoulder, was Otonashi. Otonashi remembered the song she sang and immediatly ran over to her, casue her began to remember her.

Well, if you watch after the credits u WILL see that Otonashi left the afterlife, and you see him pass by Kanade, he dosen’t recognise her at first,but then turns around finally notices its her and the final moment is his hand slowly going on her shoulder.

They can make a season 2 based on the manga “Angel Beats – Heaven’s door” which will be a prequeal. Or they can talk about what everyone’s past, how they died, and what happened to them after they disapper!! Love this manga so much!!! Let’s pray that there will be a new season!!!

Well, in the clip at the very end, it showed Kanade humming “My Song” and Otonashi turned around and almost touched her shoulder. That’s a pretty big cliffhanger. They really should continue it.

best option is i think that otanashi will start all over again as the new Angel of some like that and there will be new group or that the story will follow like clannad and every body will find each other and ofcourse wih some really sad stuff that will blow you away.

It’s October 2012, it looks like Angel Beats S2 probably won’t be around, or they are really considering what to do for S2 and need time to think up a great plot like in S1. It took them a few years (from 2007 IIRC) for the first season so let’s hope!

possible ending to the show outta the many and its was seen to be a great thing to put iout by saying “hey this is what was supposed to happend” but if you accualy watched the end credits on episode 14 the main charecters meet up at the end in the real world so Osa-something (bad memory) isnt the lonely NPC waiting for love.
