Dakimakura

January 12, 2009

Do you know what a dakimakura is?

Dakimakura is a of large pillow from Japan. The name means “hugging pillow”; they are similar in shape to body pillows in the west.

Some Dakimakura are imprinted with a picture, usually a young woman in the anime style. Sometimes anime or bishōjo game magazines give dakimakura covers away as promotional materials. Some of these printed dakimakura can be considered love pillows.

Sometimes called a Dutch wife, although the original definition of this phrase is closer to the chikufujin.

How come there is no vote option for “already own one”? 😦

Still waiting to get just one cover, primarily because they cost so much. So I will only get Sekirei’s Tsukiumi, considering she is my only waifu with a daki cover.
