Comic Exhibition Coverage Part 1

July 31, 2010

Comic Exhibition, what I used to called Manga convention since I was having a hard time translating the Chinese name into English, is held every year during summer for all the otaku.  As the name says the convention is mainly themed around Comic books (Manga).  However, they also sell anime DVD, games, visual novel, and figures there too.

The 11th Annual Comic Exhibition (aka manga convention) in Taipei was going on full force for the past 2 days and for the next 4 days.  The exhibition this year is a little bit more special than the pasts, not only are there manga but light novel also took a very big part of it too.  This year the Comic Exhibition also invited many light novel authors like Kenji Inoue (Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu) and Tomohiro Matsu (Mayoi Neko Overrun!).  You can really tell light novel is getting more popular over the years now.

A lot of translated light novel are also coming on in Taiwan for the first time during the convention too; Bakemonogatari part 1, Durarara Vol. 1-5, Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu, Mayoi Neko Overrun!, and many more.

This year the Comic Exhibition is hold in the First Building of the Taipei World Trade Center, which is a big upgrade compare to the convention 2 years ago (it was hold in the Third Building which is a lot smaller with no windows).

Now that I finished explaining what the Comic Exhibition is, I will just leave you guys with this old man to explore the convention.

The oldest otaku I have ever seen.

It was packed with people!  Takes a long time to move around, especially while you are carrying a $1,000 dollar DSLR.

The fairy is this year’s mascot.

Transformer is still going strong in Taiwan.

They were selling cosplay goodies too!

No convention will be complete without the lovely fan work on the wall!

AngelBeats is confirmed to air in Taiwan!  Maybe a second season is coming soon?

The wall scroll, DVD, and other goodies stand.  Shall we take a closer look at the wall scroll?

This is my favor publisher in Taiwan, Ching-Win.  Some of the title they own are Mayoi Neko Overrun!, Dragon Crisis, and Famitsu the gaming magazine.

The artist VOFAN is also theirs.

The Mayoi Neko Overrune! girls.

Fan Service shot!

Fumino~ my favor girl from the series.

Ching-Win’s stand isn’t as popular as the other stands mainly for their lack of reads, which is sad since I really like all of their books and artist.

Moving on….

Oh dear looks like your site dined on the very first remark (it turned out super extensive) so I imagine I will just sum it up the things i wrote and point out, I am enjoying your blog. I as well am an driven website writer but I am very a new comer to the whole thing. Do you have any tips regarding rookie blog writers… I would really enjoy it. By the way Lindsey Lohan is in the news again?
