Why Do Anime Character Always Look White?

September 1, 2010

One of my comrade sent me this link to Sankakucomplex today which talks about why anime character always look like they’re white people…good topic indeed…

You can read the whole article at Sankakucomplex here, since I don’t want to copy and paste the whole thing here for taking the credit.  GO READ IT THERE NOW!

The video below answers “why anime character always look white?” pretty well though.

To sum it up, everything is just stereotype and how everyone looks white as long as they have a different color hair and eyes with pale skin…  If you look closely anime character actually look more like Asian than they do with white people; shape of the face, skin tone, eyes etc.

I guess it is the same argument on why all the Anime characters have large round eyes to imitate the westerners. Great video and personally I think the Asian girls look more prettier than the western counterparts myself.

Anime characters have Caucasian body type and the faces of Nordic children. No, they do not look more Asian; large and wide eyes, small jaws and pointy chins, and projecting, non-flattened noses are NOT Asian features. Why deny reality?

By Caucasian body type, I mean a more sexually dimorphic appearance, with elements such as longer legs in both sexes, and larger breasts and backside in the females and broader shoulders and larger, more muscular build in the males.

Yes I hate it! I still haven’t found a cool male anime character to cosplay. I’m asian, but my skin is light brown
